Red, black, white and green. The colors of the watermelon and the Palestinian flag. The relationship between the watermelon and the flag 🇵🇸 started in 1967, when the Israeli-Zionist government made it illegal for Palestinians to wave their flag and imprisoned anyone who dared to wave it publicly. As a response to this, many Palestinians integrated the use of the watermelon as a symbol of resistance and hope to protest the suppression of their cultural identity.
